Melbourne trip: great ocean road II & happy new year 2010!

Sebenarnya takde langsung dalam agenda utk naik heli nih… and aku laks tak pernah imagine or berangan utk naik heli in my life pon. Bila sampai kat tempat helicopter edge tu, kitaorg turun keter and just nak tengok2 and amik gambo jer la. Situ mmg byk keter park and tourists ramai stop to amik2 gambo and nampak quite a number gaks yg queueing utk naik heli tu.

Amran tetiba excited nak naik heli tu. I’ve known all along mmg amran minat banget ngan heli and bercita2 nak beli heli kau! Opss bukan bercita2 tapi berangannnnn hehehe…mmg minat sangat nak ada heli, katanya nak gi memana senangggg haha...berangan jer laa...member tu lesen motor beso pong lom setel agik tuh, ehem…Neway, dia tanya aku nak naik ker…aku just shrugged my shoulder sbb..ermm ntah eks..mungkin aku nyer perception slama ni mahal laa tp tgk org naik turun tu mmg teruja jadiknyer! Last2 oklah dua2 agree tuk naik, just merasa skali kan..afterall, bila naik heli tu buleh tgk the whole view of the ocean nearby and the 12 apostles situ. So naik lah kitaorg! So here are the piccas..enjoyyyy!

Satu heli naik 3 org, kitaorg ada sorang mamat from india who studied in melbourne and penah buat masters kat mesia naik skali. Mana yg single tak cukup korum ni akan kena join another couple of two, and best thing is depa dapat dok depan laa which I suppose the view must be damn awesome!! Jangan taktau, masa aku tgh queue nak nunggu naik heli tu ada sorang aborigin yg mabuk so cam tak baper betui dok queue blakang aku, merepek meraban sengsorang dia..dok teguq officer jaga situ kata nak naik sama. Tu diahh ketaq tak hengat aku..heheh aku mmg takot sket org tak baper betui haha aku tak baper betui takper hahaha.

Amran tukang amik ngan handy cam, aku in charge of the camera. Tapi aiseyyyyyy...ishhhhh....dia nih adoiiiii bila dah sexcited sangat dok kat atas heli tu, gambo yg dia amik pon tak haper2 sket laaa..i mean, bukan nak amik sepenuhnyer..bukan nak capture all angles and views of the apostles and rocks tu haiyyaaa...bila dah turun tgk handy cam..hrmm lebih2 kurang jer laa....dia sendiri ngaku dah syok sgt kat atas heli tu sampai lupa view kat bawah boleh? muahahaha ntah-ntah dia dok nengok menda2 dalam heli tu lebeyy dari view kat luor kot hahaha then aku cakap kat dia, oooo ni la dia org lupa daratan eks? bila dah berada diatas, rumput di tanah dilupakan!! hahaha hadoihhh laa....i thot that's the whole idea of getting on a helicopter, to get and capture a better view! takper meks redho...hehehe

dah lepas turun, bersama si kamal..dia yg tegur kitoarg dulu tanya from where, we said sydney. then he said, i thot u guys from malaysia and i said, yes we are.. lepas tu cakap melayu terus sembang2

On the way balik, kami ikut jalan lain..jalan dalam instead of jalan tepi laut masa datang tadi. Ini pon tak der dalam map gaks. Lepas jer setel kat port campbell tu kitaorg patah balik dah la. Actually lepas2 ni ada banyak lagi towns and scenic stop points sampai ker hujung GOR tu coz like i said yesterday, tak dan. Jadi lah takat ni pon...merasa jugak kan and dah lepas yg wajib tengok tu...so masa patah balik nak ikut jalan mula datang tu, ternampak signboard showing Geelong and melbourne..so terus kitaorg redah jer jalan ni. Secara logiknya, jalan dalam mesti lah lagi cepat kan? sbb dia potong ikut tengah right? And yes, mmg betul save time a lot..a big difference in fact! Aku tak ingat dah baper jam dia cut short, tp mmg big difference in travelling time.

Ni dah kat Geelong...nak kata kecik, idaklah kecik sangat...in fact, aku rasa randwick kecik agik dari geelong nih. Sampai melbourne cbd dah macam maghrib2 time dah gitu, kitaorg terus menuju ke hotel jer. Hotel ni pon, mind you book malam sebelum nak travel haritu, ie. khamis malam baru book online. I mean, the other 2 nights dah book awal2 tp hat first night ni yg last minit gilos book. Why? Ada laa sebabnya...

Masuk jer cbd, cantikkkk with buildings and lampu2...tapi yer ada gaks terlepas2 jalan and all..sbb tah camana gps aku penin laks dia kat city tu tah pehal tah..kejap2 nak kena off then on balik. Masa kat GOR tadi elok ja takde apa2. Neway, selamat sampai alhamdulillah, check in and refresh ourselves. Lepas tu kuor balik..nak mencari makan and ronda2 sesikit..and believe it or not, aku pon tak sempat nak research/google halal food outlet kat city, caya dak? sbb tu aku kata trip kali ni mmg jenis main pegi, blasahhh jer...very unlike me. So we kinda had difficulty mencari tpt makan halal sepanjang kat melb. Mmg ada i know and i heard halal food is much easier and scattered in melb city than sydney. I believe so too..cuma tak sempat aku nak surf cari. So malam tu...gi McD laa lagii...filet o fish and fries manjang. Then jenjalan kejap and chalo balik hotel rehat. To sum my 2009, suffice to say that...i’ve had achievements, i’ve had failures...i've had hopeful hopes, and i've had disappointments as well.....i’ve seen my relationship with friends getting tighter and i shall say, it gets looser as well.....i’ve also found love and lost ones too…Although the year seems pretty much balance in terms of happiness and sadness, still i would say 2009 has been a rough one for me….emotionally i mean! Nevertheless, i accept that those are the games of life…Thanks to you who’ve been by my side all along..you know who you are and regardless….i love you as always…

So here goes my toast to all friends out there for the new year to come…. i’m wishing for all good things to come our way in 2010! Let’s start anew yeahh!!

Melbourne trip : the great ocean road

Kami nyer flight seawal pagi xmas tu, thanks to farid tolong anto kan ker airport. First time naik domestic flight and thus check-in kat booth instead of kat counter, so meks ada sikit terpinga hehehe. Then everything okay we board the plane and 1.5 hrs later safely arrived at Melbourne Tullamarine airport (melb’s main airport), alhamdulillah. Lengang selengang2nya airport tu, yer lah xmas day kan..then terus gi kat counter sewa keter, avis. Tak byk keter yg tinggal, cuma commodore and ford ajer..so kitaorg blasah walaupon cc tinggi, baper tah 3.5 ker 3.8 tak ingat. Takperlah, amik sehari jer plannyer pon, $161 per day. Ok, adegan sewa keter di airport melbourne ni unplan..meaning, dah sampai baru decide nak sewa hehehe

of all kan, meks dapat green car i likeeee heehee..

The trip was smooth tak banyak keter, masuk highway jer dari airport tu terus masuk ker princes highway so takder masalah situ. Benti tengah jalan kat McD beli bekpes and jajan2 sikit, drinks and all then sambung.

Then, dgn bantuan gps yg kitaorg bawak (btw, sewa kater tu buley kalau nak sewa with gps skali) and of course map manual di tangan, we start our journey to the great ocean road located at the south-western side of victoria. Pada aku, travelling ker tpt yg tak biasa esp places like this..walaupon gps ada, manual map still perlu…amran drive aku navigate jalan with map in hand, tukang bagitau dia our checkpoints, remaining mileage utk sampai ker turning or stop points. Dari airport (or perhaps lebih kurang gaks kalau dari melb city), takes about 40 minutes to Geelong. Geelong ni starting point for the GOR.

Semua gambo2 ni were some of the scenic stop points.

@ Torquay

We made our first stop at Torquay, tempat yg famous amos for the origin of Ripcurl, a brand well known for surf items. In fact, torquay is also known as australian surf capital. Kat sini dah windy2 maklum la dah masuk kawasan tepi laut.. I likeeee..tenang and nyaman jer.. matahari memancar cantik but pretty cold with the wind so nice weather I would say that day.

@ Apollo Bay, a small town with kedai2 makan, small park and such..stop for refreshment here would be ideal..

@ gibson steps nearing Port Campbell, where the famous-must-see 12 apostles are! sini mmg cantik beb!!

Ramai yg turun bawah jenjalan tepi laut...there are other minor stop points but as this is a day-trip we didnt stop sbb nak kejar masa. The best plan if u have time is if u guys plan a two-day travelling trip to GOR, jadi stop at all the points (minor and major) and tido kat memana motel or inn midway (mmg byk ada bed & breakfast inns along the road), refresh yourselves..esok sambung jalan..sure bestttt!! we cant do that due to time constraint. Kalau lagi ramai ahli kontinjen yg gi sesama, lagi banyak masa yg nak kena allocate laa pada satu2 tempat tu..

the helicopter edge, very near to the 12 apostles stop point already...where tourists could go on the heli to get aerial view of the oceans and the 12 apostles. yes, we did go on the heli! our very first experience on one and tell you, breathtaking view peeps!! thank God for the chance and thanks him for paying! haha

Next entry aku sambung about this and pictures taken from top eks. Apa itu 12 apostles? 12 ketul batu besar yg terbentuk di pinggir laut...ada 12 asalnya but now tinggal 8 ajer dek aktiviti laut.

Back from holidays!

From cuti-cuti melbourne! Best best best!!

Kejap la sangat cutinya, 4 hari jer..tu pon dah bersyukur banyak ada gaks kesempatan to get away from work environment kejap. Memang last minit plan sangat, beli flight ticket..book hotel segala pon seminggu sebelum nak gi haritu. Mujur ada tiket and room available lagik..tau2 jer lah peak season kan. 4 hari jadi kami pegi mana2 tempat yg sempat ajer lah..

The great ocean road (GOR) ni pon mmg ber rezeki nak jejak. Ingat kan tak dan dah sbb 4 hari nak cover city lagi....but i was able to squeeze the plan..and alhamdulillah we made it! been there, done that! hehee and it's beautiful peeps! beautiful!! Kalau datang sydney, try pegi ker melbourne gaks gi ocean road nih! domestic flight tak mahal mana, sure can! Betul lah malim kata kat aku sblm pi haritu, kalo ko tak gi GOR menyesal! hehehe

Kat city, we all naik trams jer ke memana. Ndak-ndak pulak ni haa ada tram free for tourist that circles the city. Save some city fares. Ahh bukan tourist jer naik, locals pon naik..of course la kannn..free tram ni stop at all important points in the city, baik tpt nak lawat as well as shopping complex. Mmg penuh jer manjang.

All in all, a wholesome experience for me! Dari kisah arrival, ker travelling kat great ocean road tu (GOR) sampai lah ker kisah touring the city especially using the trams. opss tambah agik sampailah ker nak mencari makan! huhhh. Kat sana haritu aku laa navigator nyer of kos dari mula sampai sudah. So sudah semestinyer ada adegan sesat larat kannnn hahahaha adegan patah2 balik jalan kaki tu sure ada dalam picture nyer kekekeke. Tu lah akibatnyer bila tak buat research betui2 and habis2an ttg tpt nak gi nih. Memang tak sempat sangat! Kan aku bz ngan kejer before going haritu... so trip yg ni mmg trip blasah all around laa kiranya. Aper2 pon alhamdulilalh all good. Nanti lah citer in detail. Penat tak ilang agik nih..

I was having a hard time getting the software that i needed to use for my data analysis. Went to the city the other day, searched for it..failed. Came back home, browsed and googled like crazy looking for any dealers in sydney and online software dealers as well. Failed miserably at that too! Here's my grumbling that's been on twitter updates that even got put's attention:

So, what i did yesterday was write to the professor who developed this software myself instead of waiting for help or recommendation fr my sv who's away at the moment, i cant possibly wait till january for all this. There are just so much to do. Well, you know the hustle bustle of getting it will surely take sometime already. Anddddd..i just got an email from the prof. granting me what i had asked for!! alhamdulillah, alhamdulillah...so meks takyah beli laaaa ni.

Hopefully i can get it downloaded onto (or into?) my pc and laptop as soon as possible. Should everything falls into place, analysis can be proceeded in jan as planned. My target is to get the analysis done by the end of January, 2010 (yes, again myself aiming high for the analysis to be completed in 1 month, but heyyy.. i achieved it with my data collection, thank God..so we never know) and then start writing soon after. Let's hope, let's pray!

On a different note, yesterday talked about this and that with amran...hrmm...one of the things that we chat about yesterday night was, dia kata aku nih keras kepala tapi lembut hati. ehhh keras kepala ngan keras hati tu bukan menda yg sama ker?? Dia insist kata tak sama. ehh bukan sama ker tu??

Ok ok sambung baca2 sket pasal analisis yg nak proceed soon nih. Tengah baca2 sket la ni tetiba email masuk (prof ni kat US). Email yg ku nanti-nanti! tu yg terus letak sini nih sbb excited sgt!! Siap sampai berair mata penuh kesyukuran aku tau lepas dapat email tuh tadi! adoii cengeng nyer laa aku nih. Neway, tetiba semangat laks nak baca buku hehehehe dasar perlukan insentif utk blajar betui aku nih! hehe

Note to self: tackle problems right away rather than prolonging it.
